Out of the blue….
Someone called me up and asked me if I could play bass last weekend for a band I didn’t know, to play tunes I haven’t heard, in a style of music I don’t follow. I learned two things from this gig: its important to do gigs like this because if you don’t play a certain style or genre of music, it is very easy to forget, and how much my ear has changed since I’ve been around Bunny and Stanley. Right now, my two favorite tunes are “Temperamental” by Bunny/CAB and “After the Cosmic Rain” by Corea Clarke White (Stanley). If you had asked me this a few months ago I would have said something along the lines of “Be Destined” or even worse “Lies and Truth” by L’Arc~en~Ciel… How time flies!
