Pacific Media Expo on Bass and Drums!!!.

Here’s a little footage I shot with the “drum cam”! This gig was unique in that there was a 10,000 dollar sound system that wasn’t turned on! The first night that I played with Rusika the sound was way too loud in the crowd but at least the members could hear each other! This time, the sound was non-existent! It was the most challenging but also most fun gig I’ve played in a while (on drums with no P.A. at least) in a big hall.

Enjoy!

Rusika @ Cat Club! This Friday! Oct 16 – ALL AGES!.

JRock Revolution Interview.

RUSIKA was one of the six performances to take the stage at Anime Vegas over Labor Day weekend. They were welcomed by an excited and responsive crowd that cheered the whole way through the performance. It was a hit with fans, who made sure to get their drumsticks signed when they and others went to meet the band just outside the theater after the show. Never mind some of the technical difficulties; fire alarms, broken guitar straps and, yes, a too tight to wear costume tops.

I’ll let the video do the talking…

September 24 (Thursday) @ Club Good Hurt.

Thanks to everyone who came out and danced their asses off! You guys were truly THE audience to party with. Here’s a video recap!

Jordan with Rusika

Back from Vegas!.

Wow, this post will be long so be prepared! I played Anime Vegas 2009 with Rusika this past past weekend (last weekend, I had ANOTHER gig in Vegas!) and what a “trip” that was! Literally!

But I wasn’t embarrassed because KEN did it TOO! And he’s a ROCKSTAR!

Well, the Live last night was excellent! The songs were awesome, the set went without a hitch. BUT, we didn’t have the turnout we were expecting. Nisei Week totally killed our draw! All of the streets were completely blocked off. Nutz and I had to bribe the cops to let us in on 2nd St. Thanks much to those of you who came out anyways and braved the traffic. For those of you who didn’t come, despite my text messages telling you about the push back of the show and where to enter, I completely understand. A couple of great photogs came out and shot the event and I think I saw one girl videotaping so I will try to get that footage and post it to the web shortly.

Also, Nutz has arranged for a photo shoot with Jordan and myself. This should be interesting! I’ll post photos as soon as they’re taken. I am completely whipped. My body aches from hauling gear up and down stairs before and after the show. I got lots of people saying that my performance was an inspiration for them and one girl even said she was in a bad mood that night but just because of my perceived joy on stage, she changed around to being in a great mood almost instantaneously so for those of you who gave me the kind words, SEE > I told you I wouldn’t forget!

Traditional Japanese Folk?.

Back in the *no* hair days I made up for my lack of fur by playing in a traditional Japanese folk band called Minyo Station. The video below features me on full drum kit (on the recording) but on Taiko in the video. I shot the video via remote control, edited for sound and color in Final Cut and tracked/recorded each musician/instrument individually at Yokan Recording Studio.

Update: This song was played for the Nisei Week 09′ parade!
